Borja Echevarría is a thought leader in digital journalism. A veteran journalist with a distinguished career in his native Spain, Borja Echevarría was given the newly created role of Vice President of Digital at Univision Noticias in 2014. Before that, Borja deputy managing editor of El País, Spain’s largest daily newspaper, where between 2010 and 2014 he was responsible for digital content strategy and product development and played a key role in the newspaper’s highly successful transformation to digital. Upon graduating from Universidad Complutense de Madrid with a degree in Information Science, Echevarría de la Gándara began practicing journalism at El Mundo newspaper in 1995, moving up from reporter for several different sections to online deputy editor in 2002, during the time when elmundo.es became the most visited Spanish-language news website in the world. In 2007 he co-founded Soitu.es, a critically acclaimed online news startup that won two consecutive awards for General Excellence from the Online News Association. In 2012, he became a Nieman-Berkman Fellow in Journalism Innovation at Harvard University.
