Arturo Sarukhán is the former Mexican Ambassador to the United States (2007-2013) and is a nonresident senior fellow in the Foreign Policy and Metropolitan Policy programs at the Brookings Institution. In addition, he is a Distinguished Diplomat in Residence at the Wilson Center. Before he was named Ambassador by Mexican President Calderon, Arturo Sarukhán served twenty years in the Mexican Foreign Service. During Calderon’s election, Arturo served as foreign policy advisor and international spokesperson.
In 2009, Arturo Sarukhán became the first member of the DC diplomatic corp to actively use Twitter from a personal account. He is a prolific writer in both English and Spanish.
